The weekend is upon us! Wondering where to go? Why not get into the Halloween spirit and bring yourself and your boo to S.E.A. Aquarium at Sentosa Island? From 19 September to 3 November, S.E.A. Aquarium will be holding their Deep BOO Sea event. There’ll be weekly costume contests, special Halloween bites, treasure hunts and of course, an extra special creature feature.
Weekly Costume Contests
Hey, don’t let the pandemic stop you from dressing up. All you need to do is put on your Halloween best and take lots of selfies! Post a photo of yourself at S.E.A. Aquarium to Instagram and include #HalloweenFunatRWS to qualify for some spooktacular prizes! Don’t forget to also tag and follow @RWSentosa.
There will be one winner per week who will be notified through Instagram.
One quick note regarding the costumes though, full-face coverings are not allowed. So if you were planning to be Jason Voorhees or Predator, you might need to go back to the planning stage.
Special Halloween Bites
Whether you’re an insatiable cookie monster, pastamaniac or local foodie, S.E.A. Aquarium’s got you covered. Let’s start with the spooky cookies by award-winning Executive Pastry Chef Kenny Kong. Spooky and cute, they come in all sorts of flavours, like gula melaka, coconut pandan, vanilla butter and good ol’ chocolate chips. From 2 to 31 October, you can also tuck into Halloween-themed pasta like The Watcher:
Don’t worry, no eyeballs were used in the making of this dish. Just some creative use of beef Bolognese sauce, spinach tagliatelle and mozzarella cheese!
Last but not least, there’s also the Nasi Hantu, which is really just Nasi Goreng with a skull-shaped fried egg on top. Adorable.
Are you always top of the class when it comes to playing Spot The Difference? Do you enjoy guessing games? Then you could very well be the winner of the Hunt For The Lost Pearls! S.E.A. Aquarium has tucked five pearls in their exhibits and if you find them all, you’ll win a mystery gift. Psst, riddles will be provided to help you decode the mystery of their locations! Double Creature Feature.
What is Halloween without the monsters? Visitors to the Deep BOO Sea will have a chance to get acquainted with some lesser known but truly terrifying denizens of the sea. Meet the Wolf Eel who lives at the Californian Kelp Habitat, which has such powerful jaws it can crush a crab whole.
Also featured is the Vampire Fish, which is over at the South American Lakes Habitat. Sharp, long teeth line its jaws like rows of spikes, waiting to impale its victims, usually smaller fish. Did you know they can grow beyond 1m long? If you ever find yourself in the Amazon Basin, you might want to rethink dipping any toes into the water.
So rally your friends and your family and plan your trip to the S.E.A. Aquarium today for an unforgettable experience. And remember, don’t feed the fish.
What do you think is the scariest marine animal? Personally, I think it’s the spider crab and the angler fish. Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook page and like our post!
