Since its founding in 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has worked towards granting the wishes of every child with chronic and terminal illnesses. Likewise, Make-A-Wish Singapore works hard every year to bring hope and good cheer to children and families here. One of their trademark events is the Santa Run for Wishes, which has been held during December annually from 2014.
This year, thanks to the pandemic, they are hosting a virtual run instead.
Eager to bring some festive cheer to children with critical illnesses? You can choose to donate here. Want to show your support and be counted? Taking part in the race means you’ll join the 3,500 strong pool of participants – it will also entitle you to medals, pins, tee-shirts and jerseys.
Don’t like to run? That makes two of us. You can also choose to walk or cycle. In terms of distance, the race has 2km, 5km, 10km and 50km categories, the latter of which is a brand new category. Like HCA’s Vertical Challenge, you can submit proof of participation via GPS-based apps. If you prefer to stay indoors, you can also participate by using a treadmill.
To keep things exciting, you’ll have a chance to win $100 in shopping vouchers if you participate in any of Santa Run For Wishes’ side-quests.
Always dress to impress? Put together your most festive ensemble and take some selfies while you’re running, cycling or walking. Then tag Make-A-Wish Singapore’s social pages (santarunforwishes on Facebook and @makeawishsingapore on Instagram) and include the hashtag #santarunforwishes.
Are you scary good at organising? Harness your superpower and create a page on giving.sg here. Include SR20 in your campaign name and tell everyone your bib number.
Best Long Distance Runner
Are you someone who never runs out of steam? Challenge yourself and log the longest distanced completed during 2 – 19 December and win a customized Santa Run for Wishes trophy!
The easiest way to stand a chance to win the vouchers? Follow Make-A-Wish Singapore on Facebook and Instagram and tag them using the hashtag #santarunforwishes.
So far, with 44 days left, Make-A-Wish Singapore has already raised $54,213 out of their $200,000 goal. Wow, that’s already more than a quarter of the way there! You can find out more about how to participate here.
