Local Home Bakers On IG With Feeds That Look Good Enough To Eat From

They say ‘everything starts at home’ and that rings true especially for these home bakers who have blessed us with their colourful and mouth-watering #instafood. Most Singaporeans declare themselves to be foodies though many of us don’t actually set foot in the kitchen to whip up a dish unless necessary. No, maggie mee don’t count. If you ever baked cookies or cakes from scratch, you would know how much hard work goes into getting the perfect dough or batter for your confectionery.

From chocolate brownies to gooey cookies, warm doughnuts to designer cakes, these home-based bakers have shown that even a small oven will not stop you from achieving your baking dreams.

What you love, Whisked Batter has done it all. Their post on the Fudgy Brownies stopped me in my tracks simply for their overflowing toppings. So you know you are in good hands when your baker knows exactly what you are craving for – heaps of chocolates and mountain-full servings of toppings.

Adeline, the baker behind Dee Bakes have been baking her famous stuffed brownies (we are swooning over those layers of divine goodness) for more than 4 years, as well as bringing joy to people with her cakes and cookies. Looking through the Instagram page are pictures and videos of her creations and folks brimming with joy while pulling money out of the cake. That has got to be on my checklist for my 30th birthday.

Mother-daughter duo make up the owners of Puff and Peaks, the local bakeshop that serves delightful donuts, banana cakes, brownies, etc. Donuts are smile-inducing sweet treats that is loved by people of all ages. There are a couple of bakesale options this month but they are limited in quantity, so fastest fingers first! My BFF swears by the Pear confiture jam donut and Sea salt Valrhona chocolate gluten free brownie. The best, she claims.

Ooey gooey cookies and brownies have been a crowd-pleaser since the heavenly combination of chocolate and flour were known to mankind. For Whiskdom, they certainly are not holding back with their unique flavours that are bound to elicit a uummph response. From Rum and Raisin Fudge Brownie to Dark Cocoa Baileys Espresso Creme Cookie, even the picky sweet tooth hunters are going to enjoy this. Sugarwhim

Run by Eliza who is a a part-time baker and full-time creative, Sugarwhim whips out buttercream designer cakes, desserts and muffins among others. Eliza has also experimented with other ingredients like fondant, sugar, chocolate and dried fruits to complement her styling of the designer tiered cakes. Scrolling through the Instagram feed reads like a wall of fame of the winning cakes from ‘The Great British Bake Off’ (favourite indulgence by the way).

Did we also mention that she kind of, sort of mastered the popular Basque Burnt Cheesecake a few months ago? So much so that her booking slots are gone at lightning speed. Perhaps it is time for me to try a slice to truly understand what this food fad is all about.

Lookie Cookie SG

With cookies baked by Jessica Chow, founder of Lookie Cookie, it definitely brings out the cookie monsters in us. Known for her Valrhona Dark Chocolate Cookies, her items during the bake sale often gets sold out pretty quickly. The crumbly and fudgy cookies come in different flavours, ranging from sea salt to pistachio, walnut to classic chocolate chips.

From the wise words of the blue monster: “Today me will live in the moment unless it’s unpleasant in which case me will eat a cookie.” Let that sink in…
