Did you grow up hearing your grandparents talk about how life was like in the kampung days? Perhaps you’ve heard them speak longingly of how everybody back then used to grow their own veggies? Take them for a trip down memory lane by bringing them to the Weekend Farmer’s Market, at Kok Fah Technology Farm!

Every Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 5pm, feel the kampung vibes as you tour the Weekend Farmer’s Market, with vegetables harvested just a couple of hours before. That means you can snap up the freshest produce before everything even hits the supermarkets.

Specialising in leafy greens, Kok Fah Technology Farm grows least 5 different types of spinach as well as various lettuces, Thai basil, kai lan and more. They do all this using a mix of hydroponics and doing things the old-fashioned way, with soil.

A Farm With A Roof?

Best of all, Kok Fah Technology Farm is all indoors – which means your weekend plans won’t be wrecked by the rain. Singaporeans know how unpredictable our tropical weather patterns can be. Therefore, it’s far wiser to plant in a controlled setting. Not only does this keep the crop pests away, it also protects the delicate greens from rainstorms. The crops also benefit from smart shading and automated irrigation.

Sign up for KF Wonderland and you’ll get a guided tour around the farm. Get your hands dirty learning how to make a terrarium and watch how aloe vera is extracted from the plant. You’ll also get a complimentary bottle of honey aloe vera juice, bottled right at the farm, plus a sample pack of Kok Fah lettuce!

Currently, there are two time slots:

2:00 – 3:30pm on 19 December (Saturday)

9:30am – 11:00am on 20 December (Sunday)

How To Get There

Note: Getting to Kok Fah Technology Farm requires a bit of a walk. If you’re traveling with elderly relatives or infants, keep this in mind and plan ahead so you can keep everyone comfortable.

The closest MRT station is Choa Chu Kang Station, which is on the North South Line. Take Bus 975 or 172 from there. Alight opposite Chengtai Nursery.

From there, it’s a 20 – 30 minute walk to the farm.

Although Singapore is one of the world’s greenest cities, tidy shrubs and manicured trees are quite different from being in an actual farm. At Kok Fah Technology Farm, you can see where your food comes from and how it’s harvested. When you shop with the farm, you’re also supporting a local business that’s been around for more than 3 decades!
