Pumpkin Spice Latte Returns, With New Friends In Tow

Just like how every haze season in Singapore brings smog and feelings of ill-will towards a certain neighbouring country, the 3rd quarter of the year brings about the return of Starbucks’s seasonal favourite, the Pumpkin Spice Latte.
This year, Starbucks is also introducing a few new drinks alongside the PSL. They are the Pumpkin Spice Cold Cream Brew, the Oat Caramel Macchiato and the Iced Almondmilk Hazelnut Latte.
I’ve always found “lactose-intolerant” to be a weird phrase to describe a group of people with involuntary dietary restrictions. Why not lactase deficient? Or to borrow a Pokemon term, weak against dairy types? Anyway, the Iced Almondmilk Hazelnut Latte was made with my people in mind. It’s a blend of Starbucks® signature espresso, their hazelnut syrup, crowned with crunchy almond bits. Despite the name, it IS also available as a warm drink.
Another option for people like me who can never eat cereal like a normal human being is Oat Caramel Macchiato. Freshly steamed oat milk with vanilla flavored syrup, marked with Starbucks® signature espresso and topped with a caramel drizzle for a deliciously sweet finish. Available as a hot, iced, or blended handcrafted beverage.
This new spin on the PSL blends it with Starbucks® classic cold brew coffee plus you also get pumpkin-flavoured cold foam on top of your drink with vanilla syrup. The inclusion of cold brew also means higher caffeine content, so if you like the PSL but find that it makes you sleepy… Choose the Pumpkin Spice Cream Cold Brew.
Another take on the PSL is the Pumpkin Spice Nitro Cold Brew. If you’re wondering what the difference is between the Nitro Cold Brew and the Cold Brew, well, the Nitro Cold Brew is supposed to have a smoother mouth-feel. Do note though, that this relative of the PSL is available only at selected stores.
So what will you be selecting for your next Starbucks order? Will it be the PSL, one of its cousins or something completely different?
