Star Wars Virtual Run 2020

2020 has delayed a great deal of events and outright cancelled some of them. Think the Tokyo Olympics, Coachella and Stranger Things. The Star Wars Run 2020 organized by LIV3LY to commemorate the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back was no exception. But although COVID-19 pushed it from May 4th to June 15th, The Star Wars Run quickly adapted and became The Star Wars Virtual Run 2020.

Like the Singapore Food Festival which was also forced to conduct its masterclasses and cook-alongs online, the run will now also allow participants to run from the safety of their homes, on their treadmills. Because the distance travelled needs to be measured by a wearable, when on a treadmill, participants hoping to complete their run via treadmill will need to have either a Apple Healthkit or GoogleFit.

Which means that even if you have the MOVE app by LIV3LY installed on your phone, you will not be able to complete your run on the treadmill.

Participants must have a mailing addressed registered one of the following South East Asian countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. They must also be 18 or above unless you’re in Indonesia, in which case, you will need to be 21 or above.

There are 2 categories of run: the 5.4km run and the 40km run. To register for the former will cost you $25. The latter will cost $40.

Oh and about those sweet trophies? Register, complete your run and you’ll get one. But which one depends on your allegiance.

Now, will you choose the light side or the dark?

Perhaps the best thing to come out of the delay though is that you no longer need to complete your run in one shot. As long as your distance is tracked accordingly between June 15th to September 30th, you will receive a trophy within a month of your run’s conclusion. If you register for the 40km run, you can even split the distance with a friend!

See Liv3ly’s site for more details on this.

Are you game for the Star Wars Virtual Run 2020? Will you run with a friend and use this as an opportunity to hit that fitness target together?
