Kopi addicts know that the right brew is worth hunting down for. There is nothing as important and honestly, enjoyable, in holding a cup of caffeinated bliss in your hands every morning, with every sip washing away the haze of sleep as you gear up for what the new day brings.
There are 2 types of coffee drinkers in Singapore – one who can be seen expertly belting out their coffee order in jargon at kopitiams and bringing back their drink in plastic bags, and the other who prefers their coffee served in sleek environmentally-friendly packaging, served by charming baristas who always get your name wrong on the cup.
If you belong to the former group, this one’s for you. Nanyang kopi is what most Singaporeans grew up drinking. The nostalgic sight of a well-worn coffee sock hanging in the midst of Milo tins and condensed milk. Its unique roasting method conjures up the familiar aroma which adorns family homes around the island from years ago till today.
Since 1982, Tan Lee Et Food Industry has been dabbling in the art of local-styled coffee. Its founder, Mr Tan, amassed years of experience to finally become the connoisseur of Nanyang coffee which we love. Today, he supplies to well-known brands such as Goldkili.
You may not know who he is, or what this company does, but I’m sure you would have tasted their products at least once in your life.
In light of the extension of circuit breaker measures, this kopi veteran is releasing some of their products – which are conveniently packed for home use – for us to enjoy right at home.
Here’s a video on how to make the delicious kopi yourself.
